5 Tips to Get You Through a Divorce

Divorce is known to be one of the tops stressors that people may experience in their lifetime. Going through a divorce can cause you to question each and every decision because after all, the decisions you make now will have long lasting effects. 

With the assistance of a Trained Mediator or Attorney at the start, you can begin to feel some level of comfort that the divorce process will be explained to you thoughtfully giving you some needed confidence while moving forward.  Read on to see additional things you may want to consider doing while going through a divorce. 

1. Reach out to your support systems

This might include family, friends, co-workers;  you can be sure some of them will have gone through a divorce themselves.  

2. Stay off social media venues

It is natural to want express yourself when all sorts of emotions are stirring, but it's best to do so in a private venue, rather than public.  Remember,  what's put out there for the world to see is hard to take back.

3.  Exercise! 

Join a gym, take the dog for a walk, try a yoga class.  Exercise releases "feel good" hormones and everyone going through a divorce could sure you some of those.

4.  Patience  

It's a lot easier to be the person telling others to be patient and that this moment, experience, situtation, etc... will pass.  It's a lot hard to be the one having to find the patience.  Do your best.  You will get through this. 

5.  Honesty  

That includes with yourself as well as your Attorney, your Mediator, even your Therapist if you have one, which may not be a bad idea during this time.  It's time to consider what your needs are and to know the difference between needs and wants.
